Local Justice
Mission and Values
The Local Justice Ministry at Encounter Church exists to alleviate spiritual, social, and economic poverty to every marginalized man, woman, and child in the Greater Seattle Area.
Incarnation: We value entering into the brokenness of those facing injustice, bearing their grief and carrying their sorrow. Awareness: We value educating the church body and community about justice issues, ostering a culture of learning, understanding, and responsivness. Advocacy: We value advocating for the voiceless and marginalized, aiming to be a prophetic voice that speaks truth to pwer and challenge unjust structures and practices.
RACIAL JUSTICE
People of color, especially our Black and Indigenous brothers and sisters, have experienced and continue to face injustices. We believe the church is called to dismantle racism by following the example of Jesus who embodied a life of equity and true healing. At Encounter Church our mission is to help reconcile people to God and one another.
FOSTER CARE
Foster Care Ministry at Encounter Church exists to break the cycle of social, material, and spiritual poverty of children in crisis as a tangible expression of God's love. The vision of Foster Care Ministry is for every underserved child in crisis in the Seattle area to grow up in a safe, secure, and Christ-centered home.
TRAFFICKING
The Anti-Sex Trafficking Ministry at Encounter Church exists to help victims of sex trafficking find freedom, safety, and healing as a tangible expression of God's love. The vision of the ministry is for every child in the Greater Seattle area and throughout the world to live an abundant life in Christ that is free of sexual exploitation and enslavement.
HOMELESSNESS
The Homelessness Ministry at Encounter Church exists to break the cycle of
homelessness by providing support, resources, and hope to those experiencing housing insecurity, as a tangible expression of God's love. The vision of the ministry is for every individual to have access to safe and stable housing.
